F’daqqa waħda sparixxejt…

kitba ta’
Maria Atanasio (Yr 3 Bob the Builder)

Mela darba jiena kont rieqda fis-sodda u ommi ġiet biex tqajjimni. Ommi ħadet il-qatgħa ta’ ħajjitha ghax lili ma sabitnix fis-sodda. Dak il-ħin ommi ħassitha f’baħar ta’ dwejjaq għax ħasbet li jiena ġrali xi ħaġa għax minflok jiena sparixxejt.

Jiena bdejt inħossni mwerwra għax qatt ma kien ġrali hekk f’ħajti. Jiena ma nafx x’beda jiġrili. Ħin minnhom jiena spiċċajt ġo pajjiż b’ħafna tfal foqra ġo fih. Dawn it-tfal lili rawni differenti għal ħdejhom u inġabru kollha madwari.

Dawn it-tfal foqra kienu qegħdin ibatu ħafna ġuħ għax lanqas kellhom ġenituri, la ħwejjeġ x’jilbsu u ma kellhomx post fejn joqogħdu. Jiena bdejt nipprova ngħinhom billi ngħallimhom milli naf. Jiena f’daqqa waħda ħassejtni qiegħda nerġa’ nirritorna lejn id-dar.

Id-dar sibt lill-ġenituri ħerqanin jistennewni. Minn din l-esperjenza tgħallimt kemm hi kerha l-ħajja tal-foqra, mela tfal ejjew ilkoll flimkien ngħinu lil min hu fil-bżonn.

Kont id-dar u ħabbat il-bieb…

kitba ta’
Maria Cristiano (Yr 4 Crin)

Kien il-Ħadd filgħodu ta` xi sentejn ilu meta ommi u missieri marru jisimgħu l-quddiesa tas-sebgha ta` filgħodu. Kienet sħana kbira u biex jevitaw ix-xemx marru kmieni. Jien diġà kont smajt il-jum ta` qabel, mort man-nanna biex l-għada nibqa’ rieqda.

Qabel telqu qaluli s-soltu kantaliena biex ma niftaħ lil ħadd u ħallewli l-mowbajl fuq il-komodina għalli jista’ jinqala’. Għajnejja reġgħu ngħalqu u dħalt f`nagħsa ħelwa. Wara ftit nisma` l-bieb ta` barra jħabbat. Għall-ewwel ħsibtni qed noħlom iżda fil-pront erġajt smajt bum…bum…jien għidt bejni u bejn ruħi ‘mhux ommi żgur għax kieku ċċempilli’.

Il-bieb rega bumm…bumm…Ħin minnhom inżilt isfel ngħajjat ma…ma…u ma weġibni ħadd. Ċempilt lil ommi fuq il-mowbajl u nisimgħu jdoqq fil-kċina. Għidt ‘mela ġiet naħseb’.

Ħriġt infittixha fil-bitħa u ma rajthiex. Dħalt u b`nuqqas ta` ħsieb ħallejt il-bieb tal-bitħa miftuħ. Il-bieb reġa’ beda bumm…bumm…Qabżitli, ftaħt il-bieb biex nara min ġie. Min kien hemm xeba’ u telaq. Il-bieb ta’ barra ingħalaqli waħdu. Jien spiċċajt maqfula barra bla ċavetta, bla mowbajl u bil-piġama u l-karkur tas-sodda. Bdejt miexja u wasalt fi Ġnien 2000. Mhux ‘l bogħod wisq smajt lil missieri jgħajjatli, dort u bqajt nistennihom jersqu lejja. L-ewwel kelma li qaluli kienet “Int x`qed tagħmel hawn?” U bdejt nirrakkonta xi ġrali.

Meta wasalna d-dar insibu kollox imqalleb u mħarbat. Qalbi għamlet tikk għax hsibna li daħlilna xi ħalliel. Smajna l-kelba tinbaħ fuq. Għajjatnielha imma kollu għal xejn għax ma niżlitx. Tlajna nkiss inkiss fuq u naraw qattus bebbuxi mwerwer fir-rokna b`għajnejh imberqin. Il-kelba tagħna u l-qattus dehru li kienu għadhom kif ħadu kedda kbira. Kien il-qattus tal-ġara li daħal mill-bieb tal-bitħa li jien ħallejt miftuħ bi żball.

Fil-pront nerġgħu nisimgħu l-bieb iħabbat. Kienet Rita ta` ħdejna biex intuha l-qattus għax niżel fil-bitħa tagħna u ma setax jerġa’ jitla’.

Ma kienx qattus li niżel fil-bitħa għax qala’ kunfużjoni sħiħa. Barra min hekk ħadtha tagħlima li meta ommi tgħidli tiftaħx ma niftaħx aħseb u ara kemm noħroġ barra. Għadni niftakarha qisha ġrat il-bieraħ għax ommi ma waqfitx tgerger. U kellha raġun biex tbiegħ għax lanqas meta bajjadna d-dar kollha ma kellna daqshekk imbarazz!

The Fireman

written by
Maria Atanasio (Yr 3 Bob the Builder)

Once, in our street a house caught fire, neighbours called emergency and soon we heard the wailing siren. The house was in blazing fire. A fireman was hurrying the high up because a family was trapped inside. He was wearing fireproof clothes, a helmet and a mask not to inhale the toxic fumes. He was risking his life to save others. He used the crobar to break open the balcony door. All the neighbours were outside and in a panic. Soon the fireman came out with the two children. He went in again to bring their parents. When all of them were safety outside everyone started clapping with joy. The fireman was very brave and the family was very grateful.

Il-Ġurnata tas-Sibt

kitba ta’
Ilona Caruana (Yr 5 Madagascar)

Il-ġurnata tas-Sibt hija l-aktar favorita tiegħi għax kważi kull nhar ta’ Sibt ikolli fejn immur.

Nibda l-ġurnata billi nqum għall-ħabta tat-tmienja ta’ filgħodu. Immur fil-kċina biex nieħu l-kolazzjoni. Ngħid kelma m’ommi u ma’ ħuti u mmur inbiddel. Jekk ikun baqagħli xi xogħol tal-iskola nagħmlu u jekk inkunu ħerġin, inlesti biex noħorġu.

Ġieli mmorru nixtru minn go xi ”supermarket” jew immorru sa Raħal Ġdid biex nixtru xi ħwejjeġ. Xi drabi mmorru nagħmlu piknik Ta’ Qali jew x’imkien fil-kampanja.

Wara nofsinhar, fl-erbgħa, jkolli l-lezzjoni tal-kor tal-knisja.

Il-Ktieb

poeżija ta’  Maria Atanasio (Yr 3 Bob the Builder)

 Il-librerija kull ġimgħa mmur,
Għax mil-ktieb nitgħallem żgur,
Jgħallimni ħafna affarijiet,
Li minnhom noħroġ bosta kwalitajiet!

Il-ktieb hu l-aqwa ħabib tiegħi,
Kull fejn immur nieħdu miegħi,
Għax bil-ktieb titgħallem żgur,
U bit-tagħlim fejn irrid nista’ mmur!

Logħob Tradizzjonali Malti

kitba ta’
Michela Calleja (Yr 5 Madagascar)

Darba kont għand in-nanniet u bdew jgħiduli dwar il-logħob tradizzjonali Malti, għax kont kurjuża. Tgħidx kemm semmieli logħob in-nannu bħal boċċi, xixu, gwerra Franċiża, il-ħarba u stop.

In-nanna semmietli wkoll bħal bum bum il-bieb, passju, il-ħabel, żibeġ, bil-pupa u l-lakstu. L-aktar logħoba li ħadt gost nisma’ dwarha kienet tax-xixu. Kif spjegali n-nannu kienet perikoluża imma fl-istess ħin interessanti.

Ix-xixu kienet biċċa injama. L-inqas li kien ikun hemm tfal kienu erbgħa. Tifel minnhom kien iwwaddab ix-xixu lil tifel ieħor biex jara jekk ma jaqbadiex. Jekk ma jaqbdux ix-xixu kien jiġri ġirja ma’ sħabu sakemm jaqbadha. Finalment, jien ħadt gost nisma’ dwar dawn il-logħob.

Is-Sajf

poeżija ta’
Maria Atanasio (Yr 3 Bob the Builder)

Aħ! X’gost ġej is-Sajf!
Dan hu żmien mill-aktar hieni
Għax ikolli għeluq snini

Dejjem xemx
U dejjem sħana
Ngħum fil-baħar
Jiena ferħana

Bettieħ u ħawħ
Granita u ġelati
Kemm nixxala fis-Sajf Malti !

Imagine you are a chair

written by
Maria Cristiano (Yr 4 Crin)

Many years ago, I was a tree in a big forest. Days passed and the tree cutters decided to cut me off like most of my friends.

They took me to the factory and turned me into a piece of wood. An intelligent and talented sculpter, sculpted me into a beautiful chair. The sculptor made another one like me. We were an order to the Royal Palace.

When the delivery man took us to the palace, the King and the Queen where so proud of us. I am a gold sculpting chair with a nice red cushion. They placed me with my friend, the other chair as their thrones.

When the relatives visit the palace, their eyes drift on us because we are very nice chairs. We are on a beautiful red carpet and behind us there is a beautiful red curtain.

In the forest I was happy because I was living as a tree, but here I am happy too becuase that talented sculptor turned me into this nice chair.

A Scary Dream

written by
Dejan Bonnici (Yr 5 Madagascar)

Last week I had a terribly scary dream which left me trembling.

I dreamt that my parents and I went fishing with our Land Rover. As my dad was parking, the brakes of the van went out and in a blink of an eye we all ended up in the deep sea. I tried very hard to make it out of the van and luckily I managed to get out.

I went on the ground and called for help. I was in a great shock and was panicking when I did not see my parents.

Luckily, on the beach there were many policemen, an ambulance and even a crane. Everyone did his utmost to save my parents. My relatives also came to see what had happened to us. The brave diver managed to save my parents and I was very excited when I saw them on the ground, safe and sound.

I was very much relieved when I woke up and realized that was only a scary dream and did not happen for real.

The land of Fun o Fun

written by
Samuel Grima(Yr 6 Garfield)

Once, although Joe thought that Rick would cause trouble, he wanted to go and visit an other land because he wanted to have some more fun.So he told his mother if they could go and she said that they could go.As they were going they heard the trees whispering: wisha-wisha-wisha.Oh, how wonderful.

They got to the Faraway Tree and asked Moon-Face and Silky if there was a land full of fun because that was what Joe wanted; to have fun. And he was very luck that day because at the top of the tree there was a land full of fun. It was The Land of Fun o Fun.

Moon-Face told them that there was everything that you could posibbly think of. Video games, book libraries, playgrounds, funfairs, etc. Joe and the others were very excited. Moon-Face asked Saucepan Man if he wished to go and he said yes. So they got some Google-Buns in a basket and got up the ladder. Joe got up in the hole first.

It was a very strange land. It had signs everywhere. They were really excited. First they went to the funfair. It was really huge. They went on the roller coster. They all screamed. Then they went on the carucell. Afterwards they got on the bumping cars. The girls and Silky didn’t want to go so they stood standing, watching the boys. Moon-Face, Saucepan Man and the boys all bumped into each other. After, Moon-Face went to buy for them some candy floss. They ate it and went out of the funfair.

Then they went to the book library. They all loved reading They each borrowed a book. All of them took a book which they like. They all had fun. Afterwards they went out of the library and to the video games but first they ate the Google Buns.

The ones who were going to have most fun were Rick and Joe. The video game the boys liked most was about football and Moon-Face and Saucepan Man most liked the racing car video game. The girls went on a game that was about princesses. They had so much fun that they forgot about the time. So they finished the game that they were on and got out of the video games zone.

They went out of the land quickly because it was going to move at any time. As they went out they felt really tired and went home. They all went to sleep.

Ġurnata li nibqa’ niftakar

miktuba minn
Maria Cristiano (Yr 4 Crin)

Irkibna f`karozza antika u mikxufa. Kemm ħadt gost mal-oħrajn, stħajiltni xi prinċipessa tal-ħrejjef.

Dħalna l-knisja u għalkemm damet xi ftit il-quddiesa ma ddejjaqniex. Wara morna s-sala. Ir-riċeviment kien ġo sala li tfakkrek fi żmien il-Griegi. Żfinna, kilna u ħadna gost mal-mistednin l-oħrajn. Meta spiċċa t-tieġ morna d-dar u lanqas naf kif irqadt. Ħlomt li għadni ġos-sala tat-tieġ ngħix fi żmien Cinderella.

Il-ġurnata għalkemm kienet twila għaddiet bħal-leħħa ta’ berqa.

Iddeskrivi l-veduta li tara mit-tieqa tal-kamra tiegħek

miktuba minn
Michela Calleja(Yr 5 Madagascar)

Fil-kamra tiegħi għandi tieqa kbira ħafna. Minnha nista’ nara ħafna affarijiet.

Ħafna mill-affarijiet li nara huma, nies imorru għax-xogħol, ħafna karozzi għaddejjin, tfal jilagħbu l-futbol fil-grawnd u veduta sabiħa kollha ħdura. L-aktar ħaġa li nħobb nara hi l-veduta sabiħa.

Darba fost l-oħrajn, rajt żewġt ifriefet fuq il-fjuri. Kellhom il-kulur tagħhom il-vera sabiħ u stħajjilthom qegħdin jitkellmu. Jien bdejt naħseb li qed jitkellmu fuq l-iskola tagħhom. Wieħed minnhom kien jidher konfuż bix-xogħol li tatu l-għalliema. Dak il-ħin xtaqt li kont il-farfett l-ieħor biex inkun nista’ ngħinu. M’għandix dubju li l-ieħor għenu mill-aktar fis.

Iggustajthom wisq lil dawn il-friefet ta’ lewn differenti. Stħajjilthom żewġt itfal tal-iskola. Imnalla kelli din it-tieqa, għax minnha stajt nara l-veduta sabiħa.

Li kieku kont siġra

miktuba minn
Maria Cristiano(Yr 4 Crin)

Ġo Ħal-Għaxaq m’hawnx ġonna pubbliċi għalhekk il-Kunsill Lokali ddeċieda li joħloq wieħed għalina.

Meta x-xogħol tlesta tpoġġiet il-ħamrija biex jitħawlu s-siġar, pjanti u fjuri. Jien siġra tal-fjuri ħomor, jisimni Hibiscus. Lili ħawwilni s-Sindku tal-lokal u miegħi tħawlu aktar siġar fosthom siġar taż-żebbug, siġar tal-palm u bosta oħrajn.

Lili jiġu jżuruni ħafna nies, tfal, friefet u bosta insetti. Huma jiġu ħdejna għall-arja pura tagħna s-sigar. Lilna jieħu ħsiebna l-ġardinar. Itina nixorbu spiss fil-ġranet sħan tas-Sajf. Fix-Xitwa ma jisqiniex daqshekk. Meta l-ħamrija tibbies il-ġardinar jagħżaqha sew biex jien u sħabi nikbru b’saħħitna. Kultant jiġu xi tfal jaqtgħu il-fjuri minni bl-addoċċ.

Meta jiġu nies minn barra r-raħal iżuruna għal xi festa għajnejhom dejjem fuqi tmur għax bi ġmieli nsebbaħ ġnien.

Raħal Twelidi

miktuba minn
Michela Calleja(Yr 5 Madagascar)

Jien noqgħod Ħal Għaxaq. Ħal Għaxaq huwa raħal żgħir imma fl-istess ħin fih ħafna affarijiet u postijiet storiċi u interessanti. Darba stedint lill-ħabiba tiegħi tiġi toqgħod għal ftit ġranet miegħi.

L-arma ta’ Ħal Għaxaq

Bdejna nduru u l-ewwel morna sal-pjazza, fejn hemm daħħaltha fil-knisja parrokjali tagħna. Dwar il-knisja jien għidtilha li fl-imgħoddi l-Għaxqin kienu jmorru l-knisja taz-Żejtun minflok ta’ Ħal Għaxaq. Fil-knisja ta’ Ħal Għaxaq kienet issir quddiesa waħda biss fis-sena, fil-festa ta’ Santa Marija.Urejtha ukoll il-każini ta’ San Ġużepp u ta’ Santa Marija. Fil-pjazza hemm ukoll statwa ta’ Santa Marija.

Imxejna ‘l fuq fejn rajna d-dar tal-bebbux li hi miksija b’ ħafna qxur ta’ annimali tal-baħar. Fejn id-dar tal-bebbux hemm l-istatwa ta’ San Ġużepp. Komplejna nimxu lejn il-pjazza ta’ Santu Rokku. Dan hu l-patrun tal-marda tal- kolera. Urejtha l-iskola primarja li fiha nattendi jien.

Jien naħseb li urejtha ħafna mill-postijiet interessanti li ssib f’Ħal Għaxaq. Fl-aħħar nett jien kuntenta li Ħal Għaxaq hu raħal twelidi.

Tune-A-Day-Land

written by
Antonia Scicluna (Yr 6∙Garfield)

Joe, Beth and Frannie were working very hard to visit their friends in the Faraway Tree.It has been a week since they last saw them and the children were missing their special friends very much.

That day they cleaned all the house and Mum was very pleased, so she gave them a whole Saturday off to spend in the forest with their friends. Now you should have seen the excitement blasting them off!!! It was going to be soooo much fun! Oooh….what land could there be at the top branch of the magical tree this time?

Saturday turned out to be a wonderful day and the children woke up early to prepare a basket full of food for yet another new adventure in this mysterious land. Beth made some toffees and Frannie made some sandwiches while Joe prepared the basket. Then they set off through the woods and started climbing the Faraway Tree.

‘Wisha-wisha-wisha!’ whispered the trees around them. Joe was curious to know what they were saying but he has already climbed half the tree to reach Moonface`s house. Silky wasn’t in her home so the children kept climbing up the tree. At last they arrived at Moonface`s and knocked at the door……but there was no answer……so they knocked again. Suddenly they heard a loud clanging noise as if it was raining pots! Down came Saucepan Man together with Moonface and Silky.

‘Oh, there you are. We were waiting for you on the top of the Faraway Tree.’ said Moonface excitedly.

‘What? No, I’m sure we were not on a bee!’ exclaimed Saucepan Man.

‘Same old Saucepan Man,’ giggled Frannie.

Joe was getting impatient, so nervously he asked Silky what land was there on the top of the Faraway Tree.

‘Well it’s Tune-A-Day-Land and I really want to go,’ said Silky with a longing voice.

The children looked at each other in amazement and they really wanted to go.

‘Come on we better get going so that we could have more time exploring it. I’ve heard that it is really surprising!’ said Moonface already taking the lead. So they started climbing again and reached the top. Bravely he peeped through the clouds to see if it was safe.

‘Well, it is surprising!’ said Moonface dreamily.

All the others couldn’t bear their excitement so they pushed Moonface and squeezed through the hole. When they stood up they found themselves in a land full of notes playing and singing tunes all the time as their language, and treble clefs guarding their ways.

Moonface started crashing the pans together while singing an odd song like this:

‘Two beans for a pudding,

Two cherries for a pie,

Two legs for a table,

With a hi-diddle-hi!’

It really made the children laugh! Then a treble clef guard came hopping fiercely at the same time.

‘Mmmh! Guests I think! Why are you here? You’re supposed to be playing tunes not laughing. Better get an instrument or you’ll soon be ‘n prison!’ sang the guard detached.

‘Oh oh, I think we’re in a biiiig problem!!!!!’ squeaked Silky.

So they started to search for music shops but all they saw were loose pages of manuscripts and notes jumping into staves of the music sheets to buy sharps and flats for dinner!

‘Wow, did you see that!’ gasped Joe.

‘Hat? No, I didn’t see any hats,’ said Saucepan Man lost in his thoughts.

‘That’s wonderful!’ exclaimed Frannie and Beth together.

‘I think we‘d better keep searching, for I don’t want to end up in prison!’ growled Moonface who was right.

Just then a column of treble clef soldiers came marching. When they saw the children not playing and singing they rushed to them and grabbed them along.

‘Leave us alone!’ said Silky fighting with the biggest clef.

‘Give us a tone! They are not selling any instruments and we better find some!’ panted Saucepan Man.

The soldiers took them to their court. This was shaped as a giant violin and overlooking the whole village to keep harmony among the notes.

When they entered the violin, a strange thing happened….the children and their friends were placed into staves as notes and could barely move! What was happening?

The prison was a music sheet and they didn’t have an idea how to get free! Each child was separated by a bar line and in the beginning of each line there was a treble clef guarding them all day, while playing and singing their heads off!

‘Make it stop!’ yelled Beth. ‘I’ve got a headache’.

‘Oh, we do need to get out of here….but how?’ said Moonface gloomily.

After an hour a minim passed by and Silky called her sweetly while she bounced on her one foot and sang a tune:

I’m sorry for you,

but I know only few.

Try and sing the notes,

And don’t escape in boats!

‘Thank you very much,’ sang Silky back and suddenly they all started to try and sing the notes.

‘La-la-la-la-la-la-la’ sang Joe who was feeling shy. Well everyone was!

Silky was the first one free for she has a wonderful voice. Then Frannie, Beth, Moonface, Joe and at last Saucepan Man for he was squeaking!

Now how could they get rid of the treble clef?

‘ I know,’ said Moonface at last. ‘We can…maybe sing and play Saucepan Man’s pots? They are percussion instruments after all!’

‘Well let’s try it. Oh! I hope it will work!’ whined Beth bored.

‘Saucepan Man can you hand each one of us a pot of yours to make some noise?’ asked Joe.

‘ Yes, sure. Here you go. One for you, another for you, oh and this is for you.’

‘Thank you Saucepan Man. You heard pretty well this time!’ laughed Frannie.

Then they formed a column and crashed along, singing Saucepan Man’s song. (Two beans for a pudding, two cherries for a pie…..)

When they got closer to the treble clef they stayed calm and they managed to pass it!!! Oh, how happy they were!!

Finally they were outside the court and ran to the hole to reach the Tree. They forgot that they had to keep on singing and playing all the time for who knows where the pans are?

When they found the hole, they slid in and back to the tree. They went to Moonface`s house and ate the food the children had brought with them.

It was getting dark so Joe and the girls went down the tree, through the forest and back to their home.

That night they couldn’t sleep because they were still full of excitement and were very happy that they went to this strange musical land!
