Dinja Waħda

dinja wahda gold award logoĦal Għaxaq Primary school has won yet another Gold Award for the Dinja Waħda project.

A huge well done goes to all members of staff and pupils who participated in this project during the last scholastic year 2011-2012.  Their collective efforts made this whole school achievement possible.

The balloon planet logo symbolises the fragility of the earth, but also the fun aspects of Dinja Waħda.

Dinja Waħda is BirdLife’s commitment to environmental education. It is presented in an Action Guide through 30 green activities for primary schools.  Every primary school class is given an Action Guide. Teachers are free to choose the activities they would like to carry out. The Guide describes each activity in easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions and contains a number of appendices to provide background information. For each activity carried out, a school is awarded points. At the end of the year schools win a gold, silver, bronze or merit award. The range of activities covers different skills, interests and varying levels of teacher environment commitment.

A new Dinja Waħda council will be formed at the beginning of this scholastic year, co-ordinated by Ms E Vassallo, Assistant Head with the participation of Ms S Caruana, Class-Teacher: Year 2 Carebears.
